My name is....

Drew Widman, glad to be here.

Probably one of the younger folks on the forum at 24 years old, but I am eager to learn from you guys. I have a 1984 Porsche 911 wide-body that I will sell to eventually upgrade to vehicle that's been on my childhood wall poster -- the GT40.

I have a respectable shop in my garage with CNC, vertical mill, MIG/TIG welders, 3D printing, etc., so I am not afraid to take on a project.

I have visited/spoken with Superformance, RCR, Holman Moody, CAV and others, and at this point exploring the options, meanwhile piecing together the unique history of the GT40.

Welcome to GT40s.com Drew!

With all that talent and equipment - Have you considered a scratch build?

Thanks for the welcome!

Randy - Great question, one that I've pondered over quite a bit. At the end of the day, I decided that I want to attach brand recognition to the car. I also prefer the monocoque over a tubular frame.

Fran - In preparation for our meeting, can you please provide the current status of your car's ability to accept the 4.6, 5.0, or 5.4 engine family? I am aware of the taller deck on the 5.4.

Thank you. (mods - feel free to move this post to a more suitable thread, if necessary.)

Hi Drew,
Welcome to the club.
Coincidence...I sold my Porsche 911 1984 for a GTD40 (project).

Sounds you are well equipped so that will make life easier.

Have fun in the search, it is an adventure.
This forum is for sure a good platform with a lot of experienced members.

What helps is to read through the several build blogs...you get a feel for the quality of each kit. What is the purpose of the GT40 ? Cruiser, racer, showcar, all of above ?
Regards
Andy
