My Summer Vacation, part deux

I thought I'd share a little of what I've been up to lately. The brief highlights:

-Overnight paddle down the Columbia River from Portland, OR to Longview, WA: 35 mi, 2 days, about a dozen bald eagles, ~30 osprey, dozens of geese, swans, etc; lots of HUGE boats!

-Successful climb of Eldorado Peak with Bethany, my girlfriend: Great time, great weather, great company and she did a fantastic job with a strenuous (and first) climb. She was really happy to make it back to the truck (see pic)!

-Nice relaxing week with Bethany (after the climb that is): Nice dinners, lazy mornings, GREAT dinner with Tim and Donna one evening, road tripping around Seattle and Puget Sound. She had to go home all too soon. Sorry, no pics.

-An attempt at climbing Mt Triumph: Conditions weren't good, snow too soft, turned around, but WOW was that a gorgeous area.

-Successful climb of Black Peak (Holy sunrise Batman!!!): Great route and fun times with a good friend. Super enjoyable and fantastic views/locale. Woke up to one of the most incredible sunrises I have seen.

-Rained out of Washington Pass climbing the Liberty Bell group: Sorry, no pics of this. Stick your head in a shower and you'll get the picture (sorry, bad pun).

The weather forecast just crapped out for the entire NW so I am trying to figure out what to do next.

Hope your summers are going well and that some of you get a kick out of the pictures. There is some beautiful country around here.

Just a few pics (in chronological order):

Chris,

Very beautiful pictures! Thanks for sharing.

You are much braver than I being on the water in such a small watercraft when their are much LARGER SHIPS running the same waters!

I know.....being on the Columbia River when an ocean going ship goes by at about 5 knots, will throw out about an 6-8 foot wave...or more. I have a 24 Ft Reinell with a fly bridge....and I got water over the top of the fly bridge (might have been how fast I was going too) in a similar situation.

Hey, make sure you post more pictures on your future travels.
