New guy from Central WA

Hello all!

New to the forum. What has brought me here is I am seeking info on a GT40 kit that my brother and I have aquired. The whole kit car thing is new to me so I'll have lots of questions. First thing is to try and identify what kit it is I guess, lol.

I only have one pic but can describe it a bit. Its a fiberglass body, appears to be one piece from nose to tail. VW engine. Engine is accessed through a metal plate that comes off the back/bottom of the car. Looks hard to get at. The doors do not include any part of the roof-they do not stick up above the bottom of the window when the window is down. Gas tank up front, filled through a cover that unscrews in the middle of the hood.

Haven't been able to find any kits quite like this in my googling-help!

It has been registered in the past and driven on the road. No papers though. Hoping that with a WSP inspection and some DMV paperwork it can get back on the road.

Pilotpeat,

Welcome, I'm sure that someone here will be able to identify your car, I love the color.

Welcome to the forum Pete! It looks to me like a Fiberfab "Avenger" kit.

Google Fiberfab, lots of info available.

I put two of these together in 1969 or 1970. Used Corvair power VW transaxle.
As I remember, the rear clip didn't fit very well and required some mod's to get it right.

Hello new guy; They are correct, Fiber /Fab. Good thing is it uses 66-69 Corvair windshield, and 65-66 Mustang fastback rear glass and mouldings. There are 2 more of them for sale (non-running, one non-roller) just south of you in Vancouver USA. Both in very poor condition.

If your car turns out to be a fiberfab, I think I still have an old manual for them kicking around in the garage and would be happy to try to find it. It was from a friend's car when he built it & I inherited it when he sold the car.

As I recall, it was not a whole lot of help, but let me know anyway.

Little more of what I have learned.

This car appears to have been on the road at one time, but no recently. The body is complete but I think it is one piece nose to tail. How would one access the engine? There is a large panel on the back that comes off but is that it?

All the glass is good except the right door window glass is missing. I think I read somewhere that RX 7 glass fits?

Someone took all the electrical switches and wires out of the panel as well as the seats and pedals.

They also took the door hinges off-trying to convert it to swing up instead of swing out doors.

At first walk around the rest of the car does not appear to have been touched since it was driving before.

Found this:
window/windwing combo, using a windwing from a 65 Mustang in combination with a 66 Ford LTD door glass and a regulator from a Karman Ghia. The wind wing will have to be reshaped somewhat at the top corner. There is another alternative which comes close, use a side window from an early Mazda RX-7. Fiberglass reshaping required.

You'll wind up doing some fiberglass mod's on the body to get them to work. I think the VW Karmann Ghia regulators will work with those too.

I actually 'glassed up some rain roof gutters on both, PITA!
