Hello all I'm Drlevitra from Seatttle WA. However I currently live in San Diego CA. I had a challenging year in 2021. I joined the forum because I want build my gto40. When I heard about building kit version or a replica I got excited. I've seen several youtube videos on GT40 projects. And now I'm here. Since I'm 6'4 350lb now I have to figure out how I'm going to fit in my gt40 haha

Welcome Dominick!
You may want to contact RCR in Michigan. They offer options for “gentleman” seating as well as a replica of the early 2000’s Ford GT which offers considerably more interior room.

Hi
Your size is similar to mine, but I am 6’3”.
I owned a DAX GT40 for 15 years and was very comfortable in it. I could also do track sessions with a crash hat on, but that got real tight unless I removed the seat padding.(no Gurney bubble)

You can build these cars to fit fairly well any dimension.

Enjoy the build.

Welcome to GT40S Dominic. As Fran said, the GTR may be more comfortable, but most kits have options for bigger guys, but you may be near the limits. You may have to go check some cars out in person. Fran is in the Detroit area.
Do your homework first.
Enjoy the forum.

...now I have to figure out how I'm going to fit in my gt40

'Bit of a rehash, but:

Reading your post, I understood you to say you already have a GT40 replica 'kit'??? If so, it's too late to suggest what I'm about to suggest! Buuuut, I'm going to do so anyway in case I "understood" wrong!

At 6'-4" 350 lb, my suggestion would be for you to find someone in the greater Seattle area who has a finished GT40 and is willing to let you to 'take a sit down' in his. Doing that would totally eliminate all the guess work as to whether-or-not you'd 'fit' in one. My own take on it is you'd be WEARING the '40 rather than sitting IN it...and that it would not prove to be very 'comfy' for you to ride in for any length of time. If you have any tendency toward claustrophobia - I'd flat-out forget a GT40.

As Fran suggested above, logic dictates RCR's replica of the Robertson Racing Ford GT Le Mans race car should prove to be faaar more satisfactory both 'fit and comfort-wise' in your case, Dominick. At the very least it should be far easier for you to get in and out of one of those. I'm 5'-8"/165 lbs and the >GT40s< are a bit too 'confining' for ME.

'Hope everything works out for you...

Ok cool. I wss already thinking of building a chassis that I can fit into. I will have to find people in my area that have gt40s to get an idea. Thanks for the info.
