Been a fan of GT40s since watching them race in Europe while growing up. Came to US in 1975. Joined Sports Car Club of America in 1987 and have been volunteering/working for the Washington DC Region at Summit Point Raceway in West Virginia ever since. I am now pace car chief and have had the ultimate pleasure of riding shotgun with Brian Redman in a Maclaren Mercedes SLR at speed.
Have seen several GT40's at our vintage races and got a wonderful ride in one last November.
I saw the same car and owner at New Jersey Historic races this past weekend. He told me it was chassis 1115 MkV (post production). My book says that the factory didn't complete it, but obviously someone did. The original owner being D Collins (UK).
I'll see the car and owner this November and I'll try to find out more info.
If anyone has more info, I'd appreciate reading it:thumbsup:
