Oddity in Coolant fitting sizes

When looking at aftermarket thermostat housings for the Ford modular motors, since they use thermostat housings separated from the engines. All of the brands out there for AN fittings all use the same size of -16 AN. I was hoping for -20 AN fittings but even if you us them it has to have a reducer to fit the housings. Not sure if I want to go that route then if I'm stuck with 1 inch line. I could just ditch that idea and use regular hose with clamps, but the upper crossover cylinder kit I have is again only -16 fittings. From everything I have read for the DOHC 4.6 1 inch is enough, but I'm leary....thoughts?
