Worked at bmc when these were new. The cam cover gaskets leaked when pulled off the transporter, leaked if the engine was not running and if it was running. Replace gaskets and it leaked before the hood could be dropped shut. Found a gasket maker in seattle and got them reproduced a bit wider/thicker and la-walla " no more leaks" . Then dealers all over the west coast were buying them from us. What a car, all lucas electrical with the same top grade carpet as the aston martin came with at the time....way to go british leyland!
