There was a black GT at the SAAC national. It was vin 009. The GT sat at the SAAC registration table on static display, no rides were offered at the show. The "job 1" first customer available GT, was built on June 30, 2004 at the Wixom special vehicle assembly plant. The vin on this GT is 010. The ownership rights to this GT were auctioned off at a benefit auction last year on the west coast. The car sold for approx. $585,000.00 At this time no plant tours are being made available to the general public. The cars are on a very deliberate production schedule. The first plans of the main chassis, built of aluminum, were way to heavy to fall in line with the desired performance for the GT. The design of the chassis was changed several times to get the weight down and still keep the needed strength. Production plans are that every 49th chassis constructed will be pulled out of the production process and be cut apart at strategic areas and evaluated to ensure that the design and manufacturing process is working. Do I see a line of people starting to grow at the dumpster???
