Project GTX - rear hinge - pedal holder

Today we decided to contribute something special to the project, we decided to reinforce the rear hinge with two stainless steel plates that fit perfectly in the body, to give additional rigidity to the fiber, then we will manufacture the aluminum hook, the hook to finish building the hinge . Today we dusted off our pedal holder, it was a great achievement of hours of teamwork, it is almost a piece of art, with the perfect measurements of the original, we made three, it makes us feel proud, we probably have a high ego, We constantly praise ourselves for our work, it is probably full of flaws that we do not see, we do not have critical experts around. We made three pedal holders, one made of wood for casting in aluminum and another made of A36 steel, we chose the steel one, it gives us confidence, tomorrow it will undergo sandblasting to renew it after years of being stored. We are as excited as the first day we started, we look like children playing.

We are obsessed with making things like the original GT40, the stainless steel plates as support for the rear hinge, it is the only thing outside our objective, we saw it as something necessary to take care of the body, but we are clear that the rest of the details They will be the closest thing to an original GT40.

You are absolutely right, we spend time discussing it, we are in love with the original design, we do not want to get in the way with our unnecessary contributions, we only add this detail only to protect the body.

Very nice.
Is it cast or a welded structure that you have made?
That's right, we did it. We are three members of the team, I am in charge of obtaining measurements and making the workshop plans. Several tests were done, a beautiful piece of wood, then a horrible one in cast aluminum, and then this master piece in steel.

It is very hard to tell that it is a welded construction. With some shot blasting to obtain a cast texture and paint, it will look right at home in the foot well of the vehicle.

well done!

cheers,
Ryan

Yesterday we made a big mistake, this week I could not be present at the workshop to give data for the large perforations of the pedalboard, I had to do several personal things and I could not go. My friend decided to move forward, the large perforations were very close, he didn't take into account the passage of the accelerator rod. We have to go back, for now we are going to forget that piece, we will see how to correct it other day.

Little by little we are taking certain steps, we are manufacturing pieces with enough detail to be satisfied, a project that gives us more and more pride. Don't pay attention to the gearbox and the engine (R30) that we installed, the idea is to use a ZF box and an engine like the original.
