Registering a car

I have never built a car before and this is my first time attemting to. How do you get a vin number, and lisense a kit car? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif

Registration varies from state to state. Typically, if you purchase a kit, you will recieve a certificate of origin and the chassis should have a number stamped on it. So long as you can link the chassis and the parts used to create the car you'll have no problem getting the car licensed. Emissions laws vary from state to state so be aware. Check your state government DMV website and look for kit built or custom vehicle codes. Whatever you do keep good records of material and part purchases.

No doubt significant variability exists among the states. Massachusetts is particularly tough, and given similar political leanings /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif I'd expect Wisconsin to be similarly difficult. My advice is to seek out Cobra builders in the area and get their input because registering a GT40 should be very similar to registering a Cobra.
