There is still some work to do to the gt40, cause programmers use datas from 427 engine (from previous post I read usually that engine had a T44 gear shifter...think with 4 or 5 gears) and they love the SPF website where is signed they use an audi transaxle (6 gears...am I right?).
With right gear ratios the gt40 becomes a blast, and the result is impressive...datas of the 427 engine talks of over 475 Kw for a top speed of 325 km/h(and I am not a master in setups..)
This beta I have has a sound that is simply stunning (that is my best favourite record after Roy Snook driving experience inside Le Mans track),the work done converting GT legends gt40 to rfactor car is really good..they need just some fixes more (already ordered Ronnie Spain book on ebay to have even more details).

Have to admit almost all programmers simply love CAV and SPF website..and I hope they also will add an SPF inside the game (surely Faster than the original), as well as I hope they can add a mighty mkIV inside next (free) add on.

...its late at night..and I go on testing..renamed myself as Ken Miles and ready for 3 hours nordschleife test...:D

Paolo
(next beta scheduled for tomorrow late night..)

thanks all guys...the testing is always in progress.
Best lap at the old nordschleife(track new+ old..as in the real thing) was 9'10"168..but I think I can do a lot better (have to lap under 9...surely...HAVE to..eheh...and is easy when u are not worried to crash your dreamcar:D).
The SPF handles very very well...just I wonder if maybe the real one has some fading effect on brakes (the ring is terrible in some turns).

Does maybe anybody have a referring time for some laps in the modern day nordschleife track with gt40?

Hi Paolo,

I have followed your sim racing posts with interest. Besides having a CAV GT40 I have also just started sim racing.

Recently I purchased the basic R-Factor game from the internet. I have read the 80 page instruction manual and I have the basic game up and running fine. I would also like to get the new GT40 cars into my game.

I have found the forum “Race Sim Central” and have read a lot of the posts but they are mostly opinions and have very little instruction information. I have also read the R-Factor website. Do you know where I can get more instruction information about R-Factor, especially about getting other cars and tracks into the basic game.

Also, do you know a person in the United States that I might telephone that is a big expert on R-Factor?

Thank you very much for your help,

Bob Childress

Ciao Bob,
So happy u also like the pc driving sims.
I (still:D) dont have a Cav, and for the moment pc is the only driving experience I can have for my beloved one.
Consider I am SO nut for the 40, I buy nearly everything on the market with that car inside (also bs as ford racing game for psx2..but they had a ford gt on the cover..so I cannot resist..).

Rfactor is in my opinion a wonderful game featuring the possibility to istall many add ons imporving a lot the basic game..that has the main good thing in being "open source".
Gamers and programmers can work together to improve the game, working on every (phisic)details and producing add ons hard or easy, depending from what u like more.
Many loves also just run as in need for speed, and others wanna come crazy in fixing setups and racing online.

If u have the basic version of the game u can go here:
rFactor Central - Community Driven Race Sim Resource for rFactor by ISI // Car mods, Track mods, Car Setups, Screenshots
and u will found a LOT of mods (some gigs) of nearly every race cathegory, as well as a LOT of tracks form every part of the world

I deeply suggest u to try as soon as possible the wonderful Formula 1 1979 mod (every mod has a pubblic value ratio..su u can see in the website wich is the nicest one by the comunity), but as u can see looking around that website there are a lot of too nice ones...from Group B rally cars, to nascar..to formula indy or Formula 1...and historics Cobra and GTO.

The little work i am doing now is just to beta test this gt40, bacause I want to drive just that, and until today noone has still finish this (look at work in progress section..also a 917k mod..).
Usually..when new mods are ready u can download theme from the website (or from direct links they provide).

Hope this help
Paolo
