Run and Gun 2009

I'm still working out the logistics of coming to Run & Gun this year. Great event and great people.

It's a little hard as we have one of our major interstate race meets on the weekend before. And things have never been busier for us here in Australia.

But I made it over last year. :)

If you are not competing, it is something like 5 bucks to come and hang out in the pits and visit with everyone. The casino is nice but the host hotel this year is the Doubletree in Collinsville IL. Check out the official website www.runngun.net .

Dean,
Did the Doubletree extend the rate through this week? It doesn't appear so. Also, where is this casino hotel located that was mentioned earlier? It's looking good for me to make the drive Weds night and hangout at the paddock on Thursday and Friday. Look forward to checking out your car and other RCRs there.

The Double tree is completely booked. The Casino Queen is nice and it is closer to the track. Just search for the hotel in East St. Louis. Come over and say hi when you you get there.

Dean,
I lucked out and was able to book with a gov't rate of $70/nt at the Doubletree. Hopefully the weather will cooperate through Friday. I won't be bringing my Cobra to drive this year but would like to check out the GT's, and take a few pics.

Look forward to checking out your car....it's a beaut!

Just reading some R&G threads over there. Hehe, I see that Fran once again chose a rather......"unobtrusive".....color scheme for the SLC

I think the flat black Mongoose car is the circle track racer they're currently planning on releasing.

The run and gun event was a ton of fun but it was as wet as I have ever seen a track! Wednesday was a good day and I had a chance to shake down the SLC. This car is sickening fast! I was just turning laps, checking the feel of my suspension and shock set up on well worn tires and ran in the high 1:09's. My best time ever in my GT40 was 1:07.9 and l usually run in the 1:08's. I didn't even get the car over 5700 rpms. The car handles so well that the lines I was familiar with were much to conservative for this car. You can brake so much deeper in the corners and carry much more speed as well. I found the car to be just a little tight but like I said, I was just starting to do the fine tuning. I really think we could have ran for the overall this year if the weather was better. As it was, we didn't pack our rain tires, which turned out to be a big mistake. I just can't explain how well this car handles on the track. It will make a bad driver feel really good. It did for me!

I am working on the pictures. A photographer from Mongoose Motorsports has some of the car on the track. I was trying to get them to share with all of you. When they show up I will start a new thread about how I had the car set up and some of my impressions.
