Re: Slot car GT 40\'s

They aren't slot cars. They're 1-18 scale models.

Re: Slot car GT 40\'s

They are definatley slot cars! I already have the camaro and the mustang!! Scalextric is a well known slot car manufacturer in the UK.

Re: Slot car GT 40\'s

The first models are in the shops now, I've bought the Gulf coloured model, as shown on the Ebay link.

The detail, for a slot car is excellent, including a gurney strip, knock-offs, 8-barrel carbs, etc. the only items I'm not sure about are the single fuel cap & the air intakes in the rear deck don't look right.

I haven't had chane to run it on my track yet!

I also have a Mirage, from a 1960's scalextric set (quite a popular set, it 's green & came with a red P4). the Mirage is "race tuned" ie it came with a bigger more powerful motor than regular scalextric cars. As it's so old, the tyres have gone hard & it will spin the wheels the entire length of my straight, that's 23 feet, snaking all the way! awesome!

Re: Slot car GT 40\'s

hello, I just ordered the gulf gt40 , should have it in about a week. From reviews that i have read it sounds like a good performer and as the pics show, great looks. I have stuck with Fly brand cars and have been thrilled with them , so hoping this scalextric car at least matches them in durability and driving quaility. After wrenching on full scale cars , its fun to pop a cold one and do some hot laps late at night . :-) Dan

Malcolm,

Correct shade of blue? We've had this discussion before. Yes, the 69 winner looks 'more correct' but probably because it was photographed in daylight.
Interestingly I have a photo from inside my garage of my 40 with teh car outside and the nostril panel inside - the colours look totally different. The car looks more of a sky blue but the panel looks pastel with a lot of grey. I wish I could post it.

Oh, and Exoto makes 1:18 scale cars (How could I forget them; I've got this car sitting on my desk next to the Maltese Falcon!)

Oh, great...another toy I have to buy.

I guess I'll just have to put off buying the Stargate SG-1 Jaffe Staff Weapon for another month...

The Exoto 1/10th one looks WAY detailed! The 1/12th MkIV I got from GMP doesn't look THAT detailed!

Re: Slot car GT 40\'s

I've had one of the exoto 1/10 on order since last august. Not cheap $599
I was told the exoto 1/10 has more details than the GMP 1/12
I've seen the GMP and its beautiful. I can't wait till i get the exoto.
Better yet i'd really like to get my REAL ERA GT40. two years waiting
