Steering rack installation

I received the in-house rack and am working through the installation before I cut any holes. I’ve centered the rack travel, centered the rack on the chassis relative to the sides of the tub, and there’s some notable misalignment between the factory mounted column and the rack input shaft, probably 1.5-2” laterally. Is this normal? I haven’t even tried to guess at the vertical height of the rack off the extended footbox, what’s a good height for that to align with expected suspension position to minimize bump steer? I put the dash in and centered it, it lines up with the column housing within about 1/3”. Best way to sort this out? Move the forward mount of the column and slew it over enough to more directly align with the gearbox input shaft? The column rod in the pic approximates the alignment of the column.
