The "how to" section on the forum?

Re: Where did the "how to" forum go?

Dont think you were dreaming, saw them myself 'I Think' or did I? But then I could swear I saw one of Frans pet lambs running around in 'Adair, Oklahoma' the other day as well!

Re: Where did the "how to" forum go?

The How To section will be back. Ron will have an announcement soon. We are trying to populate it and get the bugs worked out before it goes public.

Excellent,
I'm sure that will be a REALLY useful section. Merry Christmas everybody!

Re: Where did the "how to" forum go?

Lynn has it covered, there will be a How To section on GT40s.com. Lynn Miner and Richard Woerz will moderate the areas and handle submissions.

Their idea is to create a high quality section of the forum with complete "How To" articles. The articles will not be open like normal threads are. Instead, they will be locked threads that consists of one post that is an article with pictures. The pictures will be inline images with text around them much like a magazine article. Everyone will be able to read, search, and view the articles but they won't be open for comment and so forth.

The How To section will have categories much like the GT40 Technical section does. In the future, when the site under goes some of the changes I've outlined in another thread, the How To section will have a different motif than the rest of the site just to make it a bit different.

Lynn and Richard are now writing articles to populate the subforums before going live. So yes, the forums are there but are invisible to all but moderators and admins. Once the area is open they will take submissions from authors and handle the nuts and bolts of putting the articles up and editing them. I plan to write a couple of articles for the area myself and I do hope that the How To section becomes a good technical resource here on GT40s.com

Thanks Lynn and Richard offering to do the work and accepting the responsibility for getting the ball rolling on the project.

Now, maybe we could use this thread to get an idea of articles that people are willing to write for the How To section?

Congradulations to Lynn and Richard. Right now I am somewhat under the gun for getting 100% done with Christmas stuff, but I will be back with some suggestions. Looks like it will be a great addition to the site.
