I can't believe how good this album is.
So many times you get disappointed with re releases of old ' dug up ' material.

I received a pre release copy of this album, curtesy of an old friend at Radio 2 in Manchester. If you are remotely interested in Hendrix, check this out.
It contains previously unreleased material and renditions of earlier material in sufficiently different ' disguise ' to merit listening.
He sure had a deviant sense of humour, as you will hear on his rendition of
Elmore Jame's ' Bleeding Heart '.
Put this sucker in your cd machine , plug in the headphones and enjoy it's sonic qualities.
I can't recommend it highly enough.

I think the commercial release date is the 8th March.

I don't think there are virtuoso guitarists in mainstream music anymore. Now it is all about the sound of the band (dependent primarily on the producer).

Hendrix was soooo far ahead of his time. There is no contemporary to compare. I am not even a big Hendrix fan but I sure can appreciate his gift. I'll have to give this a listen.

Waaay back in the 80's, I got hold of an album called Nine to the Universe which has some amazing Hendrix songs. Valleys of Neptune is vaguely familiar, but not sure if it was on that album. I've heard of this new album coming out but forgot about it - thanks for the reminder.

I do have a bootleg double vinyl which I can't remember the name of. It actually has labels on it saying it's the Cherokees. After I received it (again this is the 80's), I didn't listen to it thinking I got duped. Later I actually listened to it and was shocked - it IS Hendrix! I need to get that put on CDs. It has 2 different versions of Cherokee Mist on it - not the cut down version from the 4 album set that came out in the 90's.
