Hello Frank
I work for Federal Mogul, who owns TRW. I will call on Thursday, and see if there are any in any of the warehouses. How many do you need ??

Mark,
I didn't know if he was repairing a " holed piston" because of a nitrous melt down, or building a exotic 16 cylinder GT 40. Take it easy on me, I just finally have been able to post since going to the new forum. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Hello Frank !!
Tha standard L2249nf30 piston, has been discontinued. I called several warehouses, to check for any NOS stock. I found "NONE" in any of TRW's warehouses. It has been replaced by part number LW2249nf30. It is basically the same piston, however it is a fully machined lightweight piston. From what I can remember, TRW was continualy, having this piston, compared to competiors units, and they were always heavier. That may be the reason, only the lightweight units are now available. Probably the easiest supplier, for you would be Summit. They can be found here: 302 pistons.
It shows them in stock and ready to ship. My supplier, is only a few dollars cheaper than them. I had forgot, with the "new" contract this summer, a lot of our employee discount was taken away from us. If I can help in any way, please drop me a line.
Regards Brian

Thank you very much Brian, I will call Summit for a set to try before ordering the several sets I need, Frank ( Anything you need from UK ? )

Question from a novice

Are these pistons fairly standard and if so is there a range of engines they fit?

Reason I ask is that the company I work for develops replacement parts - mainly for heavy diesel engines but I suggested to the chairman we look ar V8 parts and he is reasonably keen if there is a market.

The sort of people we develop with is Mahle - accepted as a very good product. and others who match our requirement of a 2 year guarantee from fit! (possibly not possible in higher performance engines!)

We ship worldwide and have a stock warehouse in USA, one in New Zealand and our head office in the UK so perhaps this is the first part we could develop.

Ideas input would be greatly appreciated

Thanks
Ian

Frank, If Summit doesn't have these for some reason, I can have them in a day or two. My warehouse said they have 168 of them.
Ian, as far as I know they only fit the 302 Ford engine. I can do some further checking however.
