SPF GT Brake Bias Bar Lock

“Most” SPF GT-40s are delivered WITHOUT a lock nut on the brake bias bar. When I say most, I mean every car delivered to date as far as I've seen. This can be a serious problem. The bias bar on P2133 had no friction preventing it from moving left or right due to road vibrations. After a few hundred miles the bar moved left to the point where there was much more emphasis on the rear brakes than the front greatly reducing the braking efficiency of the car. This is a simple fix. Acquire a 10mm fine thread Nylock nut and thread it on to the bias bar and lock it against the rod end that extends to the master cylinder. See photo below.

Not that it makes that much difference, but the thread on the bias bar is 3/8-24, not M10-1.0. But the two threads are so close either will work.

An alternative of course is to fit a bias bar adjuster. You can get one from the mfr. of the bias bar at http://www.howeracing.com/p-7316-balance-bar-adjusters.aspx.

The one I installed costs ~$60 instead of ~$25. http://www.cncbrakes.com/acc.asp?grp=acc&subgrp=all&series=bba&subseries=

I got the 3-foot one and shortened it by 12", and mounted the adjuster at the right front corner of the seat squab next to the center "console". The cable then runs right alone the base of the center tunnel until it makes a left turn right under the throttle pedal.
