It seems there has been a bit of a weather related disaster at Scottsdale, AZ, where the Russo and Steele collector auto auction is located. A big wind/rain storm came up, collapsing the framework of a large tent and damaging what looks like hundreds of autos. Here is a YT of the storm, but according to the comments it doesn't show all the damage, as the rest of the framework eventually collapsed:

And, for those of you who want to see some of the damages, here:

<ZZZ!--~-|**|PRETTYHTMLSTART|**|-~-->Wasn't BigFoot taking a couple of SuperBirds down to R&S? Let's hope his cars escaped this disaster, but there are a couple of Superbirds pictured in the photos.

How sad........

Barrett Jackson auction is also this this weekend, they seemed to have very strong tent buildings and a bit of luck.

Good! I remember Randy mentioning they would be trucking a couple of Mopar vehicles to an auction, let's hope they were going to B. J. rather than R & S.....

Did the auction continue?

My local TV channel had some short feature today regarding a Jaguar D-Type racer that sold for over $3million. It didn't say if it was at R & S or at Barret-Jackson; however, this information from the B-J website doesn't indicate anything selling for that high of a price:

Barrett-Jackson - The World's Greatest Collector Car Events?

According to this information from R & S, their auction was suppose to start today:

Russo and Steele Collector Automobile Auctions - Collector Cars

It was quite the mess down there in Scottsdale...

We had a couple of 69 Dodge 6-Pack Super Bees brought to the Barrett-Jackson auction just a few miles away. As far as I know there was no damage to any of the cars at the B-J auction although the winds were high and the rain nearly relentless.. One time we had to park a mile or so away and take a shuttle-bus.

My heart goes out to those owners who experienced damages to their cars there at Russo and Steele..

So - I'm finally home after about a 1,900 mile drive over 35 hours....

SO GLAD to hear your cars were safe and sound, Randy!

My heart sickened when I saw the photos of all the damages to the cars at R & S, too.....for each car, there was a loving owner who pampered that vehicle, possibly more than he pampered his dog or his wife (but don't tell THEM so :stunned: ) b/c in his eyes the car might have been more difficult to replace.

A few miles made all the difference in this case......only a small portion of that 1,900 miles you drove, but the most important, for sure!

The photos are really sad to look at. At least (so it seems) no people were under the tent when it collapsed; this could have been a much bigger tragedy if there were a lot of people near their cars under that tent when it came down...
