1103

From the MOT tester, I looked forward to testing this car, and Barry cancelled a couple of times:thumbsdown: Got there in the end though end enjoyed the ride for the brake test. Yes it did get a bit warm in there but always worth it.

Barry,

Looks to me that tires on the car are the Dunlop race tires... How can you get through an MOT test in the UK with non road legal tires?

They would not even let me into their premisses here as soon as they watch me coming with those Dunlop´s!

just have to wait for all the magazine features and Ronnie Spains new book. then i'll think about reloading all the pictures

is 1103 the one that's going to be at the Windsor Castle Concours? Just curious. There are only seven, I think, and a Mark III is going to be one of the sixty featured cars. Someone's going to have a great photo op.....

Actually, Keith, I count those both as English cars. OK, British cars. The only American car in the lot is the Duesenberg- or did I miss something?

I just wished there had been a Packard in there somewhere. The mid-30s V12 Packards, especially- ninth through eleventh series cars- are as beautiful as anything ever built on wheels in the world. Look at some of those 1934 Twelve roadsters etc if you want to see what I mean.

It's too bad Shelby didn't live to see this, though. I can just see him walking up to the Queen and tipping that black hat and saying "How you doing, Ma'am? Right nice to meet y'all"etc

Well, you have just proved you are a good and fair man Jim. It was but a jest of course with tongue firmly in cheek mate... :)

Regarding CS and the Queen, it could possibly be imagined thus: "Mr Shelby, would one be good enough to stand downwind of one? One had chicken for lunch thank you"

Well, if one is Monarch, one must never refer to oneself in the First Person and one always refers to oneself as "We" as in the so called "Royal We"

I notice that when Formula 1 drivers crash and burn, they have been quick to pick up on this ancient custom and tell the commentators that:

"WE CRASHED"

Which always gave rise to speculation that the slowest on the track who always seemed to crash a lot were actually carrying two people at the time. Which would account for it you see.
