Superlite GTA

Fran,

I am not sure if this is too soon to ask:

What 4G63 engine/transmission mounting scheme will you use? 1G or 2G?
How are you dealing with the rear hubs/axles?
Any toughts about gear shifter mechanism?

Thanks,

I was curious about this too. Was guessing the added wheelbase width was not from the tires alone and assuming also that the impala axles widths are different then the eclipse axles widths. I didn't see that this was part of the kit however.

If its all corvette suspension then id imagine mitsu cv at the transmission, vette cv at the hubs and custom axle bars. Some of you might not know but the dsms have a half shaft that goes bolted at the ac bracket of the motor to the block and thats where the inner cv is located, thus providing equal length axles.

Guys, we will have axles available for both of the engine options we will be supporting....
They will be sized for high hp capability as I know we are all motorheads....

Hey Fran any idea what the subframes weigh?? I have a buddy that builds chromoly subframes and cages, I would only have to pay for materials to have the subframes duplicated in chromoly tubing, just wondering if its worth the hassle or not.

New forum member here - you have a lot to answer for Leon :)

I'm not sure this has been covered - I've read the full thread didn't see it. Regarding axles, will equal length axles be available for both AWD and FWD transaxles ?

The two transaxles use different dimension inner CV joints, so given the silliness Mitsubishi played with the rear axles, I imagine the axle spline and CV joint internals dimensions will be different.

Correct me if I'm wrong Leon, I'm only familiar with the AWD trans as you know -I'm allergic to FWD.

Man, I can't wait to see how this comes together!

I am still ~10yrs out from being able to justify (ha ha) an SLC or GT40 project. This is the kind of project that might fit into my current lifestyle / family situation.

Any discussion about a stock graphix or decal package? I am generally turned off by most 'custom' paint schemes. Don't like much of the Chip Foose work either. Just like a decent 1 or 2 color paint coverage with some nice 'OEM' looking accent trimmings.

Also I would love to see a good interrior re-cover package from someone like TMI, that would give the average guy the ability to get a high end upholstery look that could be put in over a weekend. The TMI sets for vintage and SN-95 mustangs can be had for <$500, and are a snap to install.

A couple nice SL/GTA badges for the nose and deck-lid could be great! Something to make it look more like a high end low production exotic, and less like a 'kit-car'. (no offense!! I know all Fran's stuff is high end!!)

both fwd and awd have the half shaft that provide for equal lengh axles, some dsm's have one long and one short the one that i know of without being limited to this one is the 1990 plymouth laser turbo.

I like the idea of the car not having any badges on it.. Nobody will know what it is anyways but with no badges it will add to the mystic of it. I think the body work will only come in white is what Fran said, I'm either going to buy a black donor or paint the body and jams black then do a two tone paint scheme. The roof, hatch, and raised up part of the front will be black, then a dark grey metallic everywhere else. You could always paint it how you want then plastidip the car a different color if you get bored with it.

1- Paint, graphics, etc is 100% up to you.
2- There's quite a bit of custom stuff you can do to the interior of this shell. Look a few pages back with all interior pics. That's one of the big reasons why Fran chose this car.
3- Most people have had emblems and stickers made up. You'll have to ask Fran about that.

This is the car......

looks good the head lights are growing on me. they are still however what i like the least about the car tho. The car does look great enough for me to still buy it with those lights, but i'll be keeping an eye out for everyone's interpretations of these headlights.

Eddie

The headlights are very integrated into the design of the cars shape and as there are 20 plus variations there will be a version to suit all tastes.
