SL-C, GT-R or Moab

Good afternoon folks. Fairly new guy here on the forums, with some experience in fabrication and automotive repair, so I know I can build one of these. My main decision now is which of the three models to actually invest in.

Goal: To have a fairly unique vehicle that is somewhat practical for street use in Northern Ohio. I don't know if anyone here has built a Moab for that purpose, as it seems to be more of an off-road prerunner (a vehicle that's used to scout out the general layout of an off-road race course). The GT-R and SL-C both have been built, but they don't seem to be a winter use vehicle, at least in areas where there would be significant snowfall.

Engine: Most likely an LS or LT (leaning towards the LT4/LT5) no matter which kit.

Transaxle: For the GT-R or SL-C, the logical choice for me is the optional Graziano 6 Speed. Not sure what for the Moab.

Beyond those things, I don't really know what I'd actually end up going with.

The Moab isn't a kit- it is (or was, anyway) designed to be a turnkey. It has an LS engine by default, connected to an automatic transaxle.

I'm sure you could get any LS/LT trim in any of the cars.

Another thing I'm not sure about; would it be legal to build one of these for use in the US with Right Hand Drive? I know it's legal elsewhere in the world and you can legally import 25 year old right hand drive vehicles, but I'm not sure what the law is on kit or component car builds.

There is no regulation in the US that prevents a RHD car. Subaru sells RHD cars for mail carriers. You can build/import a RHD car in the US. The "25 year" rule has no bearing on the steering position.

Absolutely! In fact we are now selling more RHD GT40s than LHD. People have realized that the RHD is not a big issue on the road here. And like I tell people who worry about passing with RHD "well you aren't out there very long in a GT!"
