    Buying and owning a tank

Completely unrelated to GT40's here.... I'm purchasing some land in Eastern Washington - about 200 acres with a bit of nice slope, some good tree stands, one small lake, one large lake, and a nice year-round river. One thing I've always wanted to own and drive is a tank.....and, if possible...

    Incoming CAV GT #41

Rick, I see you have the original CAV front uprights. I have to say, those are a real weak point of the front suspension. Personally, I would not go on a track for a track day with those front uprights. Ian Clark makes some very nice front and rear suspension upgrades which include new...

    Better headlight lighting.....

Thank you fellas, this is very helpful information - have some idea where to go now. The bulb is a 9006....standard headlight bulb for a 2002 Chev Suburban. I did install the best Sylvania bulb a few months back - think it was their "Ultra" bulb. That was an improvement over what was in there...

    Better headlight lighting.....

Gents, First off, I have to apologize, this isn't strictly GT40 related...in fact, not at all. I'm trying to get better headlight lighting in my automobile - looking for brighter basically. Rig is a 2002 Chevy Suburban I bought new (260,000 miles now). The old school incandescent headlight...

    GT40 IV Ebay

Hi Dave, No apology needed. Thanks, that's news to me. Haven't been vintage racing in a few years now. An unfortunate/unwise change in my opinion.

    GT40 IV Ebay

All I know is that our vintage racing association only accepts originals....everything from a Hillman Imp to an original GT40 or Ferrari 512. If it wasn't built before 1969 then it doesn't race. Pretty straight forward.

Queen Elizabeth II - Gone, but never forgotten...

The Queen was certainly a gracious and steadfast royal to have on the throne for so long. Her many decades of steady leadership along with consistent kindness and generosity to all peoples of the UK regardless of class and standing is a testament to her basic nature and good will. That said...

    CV Drive Shafts

Yes, easiest solution would be to have the output shafts replaced with the Porsche 930 flange. There's a wide range of strong CV's available that use the 930 bolt pattern and this makes things easier, both for custom CV's and off-the-shelf. As has already been said, adapters aren't ideal as...

    Cheapest Gas

From an economics standpoint, what's going on in the background here (at least in the short-term) is "price in-elasticity of demand." What this means generally speaking is that demand changes very little depending on price. Why is this the case with gas prices? Because people still need to...

Gonna do it. Lotus Esprit SBF.

Thank you Ron, much appreciated. Brian - yes, pretty funny.....Lotus borrowing parts like that on a budget. Those Toyota tail lights are mounted upside down on the Esprit. Mine are kind of scratched....been trying to find some from a Corolla!

Gonna do it. Lotus Esprit SBF.

Thank you again gentlemen for the well wishes. I'm one lucky son of a gun - doing great, cancer free and feeling wonderful. The amazing doctors and nurses at Seattle Cancer Care Alliance, Swedish Hospital Oncology and UW Medicine brought me back to life. One final comment on it - please don't...

Hi Neil, Thank you. Do what? Huh? I think I get the concept, but what's a flip flop?

    Tachometer calibration needed

I installed a SBF 347 in my old 1988 Lotus Esprit a few years ago (I did take the Lotus engine out first...). The conversion took a while to say the least. The car runs well, pretty much as planned/expected. Ignition and fueling is by way of an 8 stack downdraft system using FAST 2.0 ECU...

Bonneville Speed Week 2022 is a wash out......

Randy - wow, that's a long haul in a hot rod. That's a good friend. I hope they didn't drive it through the salt brine on the way to/from the pits from where the road went under water...about 4 miles or so of 12 inches of salty brine/water. Neil - I'm sure you're right about the State...

Bonneville Speed Week 2022 is a wash out......

For some decades now I've wanted to attend Bonneville Speed Week and enjoy the crazy and fun gear head goings on there. This year (August 7-12th) my son and I decided to go, and have a fun father-son experience. Unfortunately, there was a big downpour on the Saturday preceding Speed Week...

Small block Ford intake manifold gasket - install dry?

Thanks Randy, seems like a good approach too. Permatex TRS is good stuff. Neil - good suggestion.....I actually did ask Fel-pro and they said put them on dry other than a dab of RTV in the corner by the front/rear end rails. Just a little concerned about leaks if installed dry...hence the...

Small block Ford intake manifold gasket - install dry?

Putting the intake manifold back on after adding an additional vacuum port. In the past I have used Fel-pro 1262 S3 ("Printoseal") and been pretty pleased - no leaks. I've tended to use a very light smear of RTV on both faces of the gasket, and this seems to hvae worked well.....however...
