    how to adjust G50 shifter?

This is very similar to adjusting the cables on a Lotus Esprit. Amazing what fractions of a turn can do. Louis

Brake and Clutch Reservoirs on Original GT40s

I meant to say 'chassis' not 'cowl' in previous post. Now that I've looked it up scuttle maybe the accurate term. It runs across the top, correct? Apologize for my ignorance, Louis

Brake and Clutch Reservoirs on Original GT40s

Thanks James! I've got a call into Rare Drive who did the restoration on the 1046 and XGT-2 to see what their restorations revealed. I'm still debating if I should put the reservoirs on top of the cowl as in the original 1015? This is a RCR so it maybe a 1015 but only skin deep... Really...

Brake and Clutch Reservoirs on Original GT40s

I was told that the original race cars leaked so bad they drilled holes behind the seat so under acceleration the water would drain out.

    Fuel pick up tubes

Thanks Tom! My RCR didn't come with any tubes. A 3/8" NPT weld-in-fitting was installed and that's what my pick up tube will screw into since it's on theinboard side of the tank. I've ordered brass 90s and will solder or braze a tube into that fitting. Louis

    Fuel pick up tubes

Thanks Steven! I see he used marine JB Weld to secure the tubing to the fittings. I will probably make mine too using brass fittings and solder the tubing to the fittings.

    Fuel pick up tubes

Where do you buy 3/8" NPT to tank fuel pick up tubes? I would prefer the pick up tube to be metal not plastic. The threaded end should be 90 degrees. Thank you, Louis

Brake and Clutch Reservoirs on Original GT40s

The attached picture shows the reservoir caps on the original P1015. Looks to have a top plate that may seal the reservoirs to the weather. Any thoughts on if this plate acts as a seal? Many thanks to the Shelby Collection for taking the time to take this and more pictures. Louis

Brake and Clutch Reservoirs on Original GT40s

Thanks for the article Steve! The RCR GT40 that I picked up was to be a turn-key of a previous RCR client. I got the car and RCR had already fabricated a few items but not that much had been done and I don't know how long the build had been idle? I know that the previous client wanted the...

Brake and Clutch Reservoirs on Original GT40s

Hello, On some of the original racing GT40s the brake and clutch reservoirs are located just in front of the windshield underneath an access panel. If any of you original owners have such a configuration I would greatly appreciate some pictures of the reservoirs and how they are mounted. I'm...

    Owner of GT40 MkII P1015?

P1015 was in the Larry Miller collection until 2015. After his passing the car went Shelby American Collection in Boulder, CO. I've been in touch with the collection and they are very helpful in getting me detailed pictures of various parts and functions of the car. Louis

    Louis' RCR MKII Build

Is there a site of historical photos of the G40 MKII? My car came with cutouts on the front clip for better access to brake reservoirs. This was to have quicker maintenance during pit stops. I would like to see how the reservoirs are mounted. You can see the cutouts in the picture just in...

    Louis' RCR MKII Build

It's been awhile and my build is slow but it's coming along. A lot of time was spent removing the old paint and primer then sanding, sanding and more sanding to remove old sanding marks. I wanted a nice even finish for the car. Not polished but more brushed. Pretty sure it was the glue from...

    Louis' RCR MKII Build

Re: Louis' RCR MKII Build Chassis Primer? Is a self-etching primer required when apply an undercoating like Line-X, Rhino Lining, etc. on the chassis? I want to coat the bottom and wheel wells with an undercoating for sound absorption and protection. I assume that you would, but just...

    Louis' RCR MKII Build

The adventure has already begun but here are a few pictures of the start. The "Forty", as it's known in the garage, is nesseled between a restored 1961 Renault Beach Car, my rebuilt 1983 Lotus Esprit and you can just see the nose of a Gen V Dodge Viper, affectionately known as the Torque...

    RCR MKII Build Dash Question

Thanks Mahlon. Here in Mississippi baking the fiberglass parts in the sun won't take long to heat up. My MK2 is a right-hand drive. I forgot to mention that in my previous post. Not sure it really matters. The dash/door fitment still takes a lot of work. I'm still waiting on parts to...
