    RCR's Next car should be.....

How about an updated Stratos with a little nip-tuck? Just some little tweaks to get it closer to the "user friendly catagory? Slightly longer wheelbase, little more cockpit room, A hint of storage space, just enough to make it more "livable" without changing the overall drop dead fantastic...

SLC preview for Gearz TV Show.

I wouldn't hold my breath guys. Gearz is a heavily sponsor driven show (if you hadn't noticed). Few main-line sponsors support the kit car industry, especially compared to the truck and muscle-car support industries and double especially for mid-engine exotics like the SLC. I keep seeing the...

McLaren replica build base on a Manta

Thanks for the spring explanation Terry - it was very thorough! I think you meant cosine instead of sine in your notes? Otherwise I was able to work through the numbers. I know a lot if it comes from actually fitting springs and driving the car - but getting in the ballpark is at least a good...

McLaren replica build base on a Manta

Terry, The chassis is coming along nicely! I've been following your "M8" Manta build with great interest. Question - mind sharing your formula for getting in the ballpark on your front/rear spring rates? I'm also doing a custom chassis build and agonizing over what spring rates to use...

    RCR's Next car should be.....

Looks like the time ran out - and no bids. Sure sounds like a sweet deal might be in the makings there. That 2D is a great looking car also - but the M6GT just has the lines like no other. Jeff

Death Wish 2012? Know if they are ordering up any fake machine guns, bull horns...?? Jeff

Seeing how the M6GT molds are up on ebay...... Seems like a natural! Jeff

    De-burring holes

I prefer single hole countersinks for hole deburring. Once you try one, you'll never want to use anything else! The 5-piece set (82 degree) comes in very handy on almost any drilling operation. McMaster-Carr Jeff

    IMSA Fiero Race car

Neat build! Had me pulling out my old issue of Sports Car Graphic and re-reading their 1983 article on the Fiero SD4. I prefer the 1st generation front end, it may not be as aerodynamic as as the "roundnose" but has a bit more character. The article touted it as a "Corvette threat"..... a bit...

    Parking brake

The IPS mechanical calipers are very high quality units. I have the Wilwood "cart" calipers too and there is no comparison, they went in the shelf. A great feature of the IPS units is the integral floating mount, just bolt it up to a hard point. I'm only running a solid rear disc (for a...

    dino 246s

Don't know if these guys are still in business, but they sure make (or made) a good looking 246. home Be nice if someone tooled up a version (with subtle tweaks to keep from being too near an exact copy) for here in the states.

    suspension ideas?

Wow - I guess that's one way to do it, but the mind wonders to where you'd be "taking" that control arm in a front ender! My idea was to keep the suspension out of the footbox as much as possible (for physical room and safety). I love Can Am cars and have spent countless hours studying...

    suspension ideas?

Thanks for the compliments guys. Bill, the LCA is fixed in position, but the UCA has lots of adjustability. It will mount to a removable plate (not shown) that will allow for about +/-2 deg. of caster adjustment via slotted mounting points. Camber is easy to tweak with the UCA rod ends, as...

    suspension ideas?

Using a forward canted lower A-arm might help? The ones in my build are designed to support an iron V8 sitting right on top of them, so should be plenty for a lightweight mid-engine build. I spend a considerable amount of planning time trying to figure out how to fit an A-arm where my feet...

Maybe too late already? Looks like Shelby Automotive is already hot on this track: AERO EV: Fastest Electric Car Specs Revealed! | Inhabitat This is near exactly what I had in mind - except maybe in a form a mere mortal could afford!

    RCR's Next car should be.....

Yea - that Datsun really hauls the freight! I spent a good hour last night reading about all the trials and efforts that got it to being an 11 second car at over 100mph in the quarter! That thing eats muscle cars for lunch! I was trying not to be toooooo greedy with the requirements (leaving...

    RCR's Next car should be.....

OK, here's something a bit off the wall - but maybe near ideal timing? How about a purpose built, fully optimized high performance EV. Something similar in execution to the Tesla, but with more pleasing, maybe retro 60's? sports car styling. Lightwight aluminum tub chassis, sleek fiberglass...

    Pics of the RCR 917

Why settle for a "plain 'ol" 12 cylinder?? When 16 would do nicely??? Fran, you sure you didn't build and ship this chassis over to Germany?? If I'm not totally mistaken, that a 917 bundle of tubes sitting non-descript in the corner?? (totally without identification I might...

    Parking Brake...

Surprised you guys don't step up to the IPS calipers. Very high quality piece. These guys put out some serious clamping force on the rotor, and frankly, make the Wilwood mechanicals look like . Jeff
