adjusting SPF clutch pedal travel

In another post of mine I listed a problem with power to my back wheels - I have no problem shifting. Turn car on, push in clutch put in 1st gear, release clutch, car rolls forward but won't climb a 1/2" wood block even with aliitle more RPMs, same in reverse. My external clutch slave cylinder is always applying pressure to clutch disc not allowing full pressure to flywheel is my best guess from the recommendations here. I've backed off the slave cylinder a bit, but I guess I need to shorten the length of the pushrod on the clutch also before trying again, I'm not looking forward to taking off AC unit and plate about pedal box so any tips on loosening up piston rod in pedal and tightening it up to shorten travel . Thanks
-Steve
