Air conditioning

Is anyone receiving an air conditioning kit with their car? I’m looking for one that fits the SL-C and would like to know who makes it. I ordered a gen 5 mini from Vintage Air and it’s huge, I can’t see any way to fit it into the car unless I literally redesign the entire unit. The Gen 2 is no longer made. I asked Bill and got the impression that no A/C unit is available at this time?

After my F up buying the Mini I measured the passenger side footwell width, it’s slightly over 14”. I looked at the slimline, it says 15.5” in the schematic. Where are they fitted in the car? Are these being mounted laterally or along the long axis of the car? If RCR won’t sell me a custom unit I’ll try the Slimline if it fits.

This picture shows exactly where it mounts. It's mounted below the aluminum panel...rather than above as shown in picture. There are many build logs on this website showing the nuances of installing it. The search function works well.

I searched plenty. However I looked for the “Gen 2 mini” as that was the name I knew. If I don’t know the right unit I don’t know to search for it. I looked at Joel’s install, and his tucks back in the footwell, which is why I asked about footwell install vs the Slimline width.

If RCR doesn’t have the custom unit I’ll check with VA about exchanging for a Slimline.

The only thing custom about RCR supplied unit is the forward box is uncut.....meaning there is no outlets installed (it's blank). Ask Vintage Air if they can supply it to you the same way (no outlets installed). The picture I showed in post #4 is the earlier version supplied with the car. Later versions have the hose connections mounted differently.

Joels install is mounted the correct way. Same as my picture shows in post #4 (my picture just shows it's position from above the panel)

Ok, thanks for the further info. I'll contact Vintage Air and see if they'll do that, but if not, I had plans to 3D print a custom plenum anyway.
