another cutted Enzo

another bad wreck with Enzo masterpiece.
This time no tragedy (probably just for lucky).

Is this your photo ?. I would be very interested if you have taken any close-ups of the front wheels. Did you notice if the front carbon ceramic disks were intact?.Both Porsche SGL and Ferrari Bermbo SGL use random chopped C fibre based materials that have very little mechanical strength. There are examples of Porsche GT's that have curbed a wheel and fractured the brake disk.By contrast Carbon-ceramics based on continuous C fibre are actually stronger than steel in a typical burst test.
Presumably either a tow truck or a souvenir hunter had already disappeared with the engine !.

Many thanks for pointing me to the original source. What happened to the McLaren Mercedes ?; it also has carbon ceramic brakes !.
As a Caltech alumnus I'm always interested in what happens in your part of the world.

Here's the latest info in today's LA Times.

http://www.latimes.com/news/local/la-me-ferrari23feb23,0,1692414.story?track=hpmostemailedlink

The whole thing has a bad odor. The owner is Stefan Eriksson, ex-exec of now defunct Gizmondo. He's trying to claim he as the passenger and that the driver was some German guy known only as "Dietrich", but the driver was nowhere to be found.

Prediction - they'll find it was Eriksson who was the driver, and he moved himself into the passenger seat after the crash. Eriksson was over the DUI limit, and he's still trying to portray himself as the passenger to avoid trouble for that too. The article noted that the police are not looking for the mysterious Dietrich.

Just what everyone expects from LA folks - lots of drama and very little reality.

Ciao David,
No, the picture isnt mine, I just found that surfing around, and always impressed by such wrecks to a supercar as Enzo is.
Unfortunately supercars have too often owners too stupid, as this swedish native guy really is.

And this is the second worst wreck i've seen on Enzo after my previous THREAD

...but that time was an heart attack, causing the lost of control in a road near Monza track.....at 250km/h against a metal pole.

Meanwhile the full story has appeared on MSN, apparently the car was about to be re-possessed !.It would still be interesting to know whether any of our US colleagues have more pictures. The motoring correspondent makes the obvious note that a race between an Enzo and an overweight Mclaren Mercedes is a non contest.
