Another hits the road! Thanks for the help...

After two and a half years of poking around in the garage my car is roadworthy. Seattle weather cooperated with a brisk sunny day allowing me to do my first roadtest. After a thorough checkout I spent the afternoon enjoying the road. The first fuel stop resulted in quite a gathering. A sign of things to come.

I can not adequately describe the performance of this car. The throttle reponse is breathtaking. Road manner is very good. Traction is so-so with my 15" Dunlops but they are adequate for the street. With a clear road ahead I must have left close to a hundred feet of rubber on the on-ramp as I accelerated on to the highway! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif Who said the Audi tranny wouldn't hold up! Time will tell. I look forward to getting some sticky tires on the beast and getting out to the track.

There are a few ergonomic issues to be worked out but nothing major. All in all the car far exceeds my expectation. I look forward to tuning it to it's potential.

Thanks to all for the mountains of help along the way. References, input and advice from members have resulted in a safe build and an incident free road test.

Unfortunately the rains are coming so it's back to the garage for now. Cheers and happy holidays!

Congradulations Neal,
Your new love looks beautiful. Now that you have had it out on the road you will find out that " it is better to drive than to turn a wrench ". Great job Neal. I hope you and the wife come up this way for a day and you can meet the latest addition to the family, see how much Ethan has grown and I can see the same with the car. We still owe you a dinner.

Neal, congratulations on finishing your car. It does look great. I especially like your build site and all the information I can gleen from it. If I build a car I hope your site will still be available. Be careful out there and have a blast.
