Araldica Barolo 2005

I had a look at our local 24hr store yesterday and found (to my suprise and delight) they are stocking 2005 Barolo for just under £10.(€12 or $15). I thought I should try a bottle just in case they were not up to scratch. I deliberately cooked some sea bass :chef:for dinner so my family would elect for something like a prosecco and then I made my own dinner of spam sandwiches which I then proceeded to put in the garbage bin and settled back with this bottle of Barolo. What can I say. Just really, really good. I think I might go to the shops again today and stock up with a few (cases). The last time I bought the same label and same year it was £78 for a six bottle case + delivery though I have to say it was a very good example of the Piemonte Nebbiolo product and it was free delivery on twelve cases or more. That was pre Christmas and it's gone now so this wine I stumbled on yesterday is the bees knees. :drunk:  :chug:
The supermarket? Asda.

Anyway - we might have a celebration in the near future and some good plonk in stock is mandatory . One of our ranks on this website gets his command and gets his fourth ring on his uniform sleeve. It's a big secret at the moment but a possible announcement coming soon. And if we don't drink it then, it will go at Fawley Meadow during Henley week anyway.

That is a seriously good price for a good Barolo. I often buy the Sainsbury's own label, which is excellent, and that is NEVER under £14 a bottle.

Thanks for the heads up
