Audi 016's and 013's

I everyone!, been reading in this forum for quite some time. Pardon my ignorance, maybe this question has been answered before. Just wanted to find out, everyone says that the 013 is identical to the 016, just that the selector is on the rear for the 013's. But how identical are they really? I want to know if can you interchange change the internals? I just managed to find and 016, I am able to locate a cheap 013, wondering if its worth while using this for spares parts?

Hi Rob, The two boxes are very different inside, i have one of each disassembled, the gears in the 013 are much narrower than the 016 and also much smaller in diameter, so don' t bother with the 013 as spares.
