Cars and Kids

The one thing that's amazed me most about my 40 is how many kids are genuinely interested in helping out with the build. I've had neighbors sons, friends and in one case, a guy from down the street ring me asking if his son could come by one day to help me. I've since, under supervision by the parents invited some of the kids on my block come over and twist a wrench or two. From 6 to 18 years, they all leave with a big smile and I hope with inspiration to do something positive with their free time.

You're both so right!

For me, one of the most satisfying aspects of the sports-car hobby is the sharing it with others - young and old. Nothing lights up faces like a rare and exotic car from the past!

As a kid that's how I got started. My neighbor was always working on cars and rebuilding engines and I would hang out for hours and watch. I usually voluntered to clean parts for him while I watched the assembly.

The main reason that I have a GT40 is that I was dreaming about the car when watching them at Le Mans in the sixties.
I also have often kids dreaming watching the car and I always tell them: If you can dream it,you can do it...want a ride ? And they all loved it!

The legend lives on....
