CAV GT IN THE UK

Hi all.

My name is Rick Chattell and I am the UK distributor of the CAV GT40, through my company Thruxton Sports Cars.

It has taken some time for me to be able to log onto this site (due mainly to my pronounced Luddite tendencies)but now I am on, I thought it would be a good idea to give an update as to where we are with this exciting project.

We have 4 cars in the UK two of which are SVA'd. One of these is sold and the other is our demonstrator. We have had a lot of interest in the 2 remaining cars and so will shortly be ordering 2 more from CAV.

The SVA process has proved interesting (switches, mirrors noise etc)but thanks to the help of Martin Phaff from Ginetta cars, we have set the precedent!

I have now contracted the excellent services of Frank Catt (who I am sure most of you know) and he is in the process of sorting out the SVA down south and is also ensuring that the cars are the right balance of originality and useability for both road and track.

I wanted to particularly respond to a few comments from JP which were posted last week:

The cars are available in any colour you like - it just happens that we have two blue and two titanium silver at present.

CAV is now offering the cars as standard with smiths instruments - but again, one can specify options on order.

We now have a conversion to right hand gear shift also and the next 2 cars will arrive with this option fitted.

There you go JP!

We are bringing the demonstrator to Goodwood on 18 August and one of the new rolling chassis will be on display at Donnington in September.

I am contactable on 01428 664276 or [email protected]

I look forward to meeting you all.

Rick

JP,

There are cheaper cars on the market, but in the case of the CAV GT40 we pay for the quality of the vehicle, (which is superb)the import duty, VAT, SVA, engine/box, pre delivery prep etc. I know things have to be perfect for discerning clients and unfortunately that costs money. We obviously have to pass these charges on.

I know I am not going to be able to retire on the income from these cars (!) but I love them and I believe them to be the best on the market by some margin.

Hope to meet you at Goodwood.

Rick

Well, good luck with the project and I'll see you at Goodwood in August! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif
