CAV or Superformance???

I am about 6 months away from ordering a CAV or Superformance product. I have been to Sand Diego to see the CAV product and I have seen the Superformance in Illinois. I intend to put a Roush 427 with 500+hp with a new RBT 5 speed. I really want a product which will need minimal adjustment from the factory and minimal extra parts to buy to get the car on the road. Any thoughts? THanks...Pat

Pat , I have a Cav, it is an early MONO and thus had some issues that have now been taken care of with the new models, never the less, my car has been superb and when SPF came out with their car I thought about getting one, but I just felt mine was so pretty I could not give it up and I like the big rear wide body and deep dish wheels that SPF not offer. Having said that, I have now been around several SPF MK11's and I love them, but they need an FE for me to jump on one. I have a SPF Daytona and can vouch for the quaility of their work. The SPF will cost you around 12-13K more given the same drive train. One more suggestion. I have the Roush 427r in my Daytona, and while it is a superp powerplant, it is way overpriced in my estimation and a bit too shiney for me. It can be duplicated by Keith Craft or George Gessford for 6 or 7K less and with a more vintage look. Also ,if you go with a MK11, go with an FE otherwise stick with a MK1. I am not a cheerleader for either brand and feel you will get a great product with either.

If you are looking for a trouble free driver, maybe try to find one with 1000 miles or so already on it. They are out there and it would probably put you behind the wheel quicker.

I found I fit best in a CAV I am 6'2" and fit with a helmet, and no pulling the steering wheel to get in.I sat in a lot of cars including a new Ford GT and in my opinion the CAV has the most room. My RBT and my 347 are arriving tomarrow!!!! CAV 134 will be on the road soon! I ordered my car and trans in january, got the car 2 mo.ago.

Both are wonderful cars. The SPF is a little more authentic/true to the original IMHO, and, the base leve of suspension looks to be a little beefier than the CAV. For out-of-the-box track work I'd have more confidence in the SPF probably. However, the CAV is very friendly to use, easy to drive, less expensive and has a very high level of build quality. Also, I love the stainless steel chassis of the CAV - the welds are absolutely artistic in nature and it's brutally strong. For primarily street use, I'd stick with my CAV (early mono) and have another $15,000 in the bank, but, you can't go wrong with either.

Sounds like you want a lot of power in your gt40. 500+ is a LOT of power in a 2,500lb car - don't let it get away from you. Good luck and have fun!
