Exhaust tone - Celeritech

I've been digging around for exhaust components and still trying to sort out a way to get a more exotic sound out of a pushrod V8 without breaking the bank doing a full rebuild to shorten the stroke and some kind of -plane crank. Most folks prefer the V8 rumble, but I'm just really disappointed with pretty much every commercial modern exhaust I've heard made for V8. Too much in-your-face tuba and trombone. I happened across Celeritech Exhaust, and that's the sound I'm going for. They look pretty new or at least not very well known. Anyone know about them? After examining their setup I figure an 8-4-1 wouldn't be any more of a pain to make than a full custom exhaust for the SL-C anyway, just add a cat and a pair of Valvetronic mufflers to the mix. I've sent them a note, we'll see what they offer.

If we are talking GT40s, then the easy solution is straight pipe megaphone tips. Why? Well your baby has got to Shout!!

Use a 180 degree cross over exhaust same as a GT40 and that would make a SLC sound more exotic…..but not sure you can do the cross over pipes under the bodywork

Ian, I've done a ton of listening to different exhaust configs and different component makers. 180 equal length headers with an X-pipe is good, it smooths out the sound but it still has that V8 rumble. The 8-4-1 IMO gives the best tone with the low V8 sound at idle and accentuating the revs under power.
If we are talking GT40s, then the easy solution is straight pipe megaphone tips. Why? Well your baby has got to Shout!!

Hahaha! No worries, I understand "loud 'N proud" is not for everyone. I think for my SPF GT40 it will be perfect (as long as I don't get too many tickets). I also understand it's not for everyone. FYI, I only get offended when folks tell me my Boyz are not good lookin! Knuckle Head is on the right!

Wel, l I thought that super loud was super cool, after driving 4500 miles I would not mind a bit more quiet option, the neighbors are complaining all the time , can't really talk on the phone at highway speeds. going through a Drive through window ... forget about it . LOL

When my 40 is completed in a short time I plan to run straight pipes with megaphone tips. She came from SPF with muffled tips so I will keep those on the shelf if I snag a couple noise tickets. When the Woodward Dream Cruise hits Detroit the megaphone tips will go ritht back on!
