That is old news. Guiness book has it at 283.??? Ford GT "Eye Candy". Go to Utube, its there somewhere.

But, the FGT that set that record is highly modded. And that record was also a "standing mile" speed record (from a dead stop to 1 mile if you can believe that!)...not a standard 'top speed' record over whatever distance it took to get there.

OTOH, the Venom is an unmodded, "production", 'as-it-came-from-the-factory' car, if you will.

(Edit: The diff is SSC intends to go for an 'official' Guiness record with all that entails whereas Hennessey didn't for a 1/2 dozen reasons.)
