Peter - CAV sells them as "turnkey-minus" kits. Basically all you need to do is drop in the engine and you're ready to go.
Roger - Engine is a not-too-radical pre-smog 289 (all new internals of course, and Edelbrock Performer RPM heads) to avoid most emission requirements here and for historical accuracy (sort of - the heads are obviously a deviation). Utah is a weird state and emissions requirements are set by county. In my county, kit car emission requirements are based on the year of the engine in the car. However, any kit car with a 1968 or older engine must meet 1968 tailpipe standards, which are trivial to meet unless there's something really wrong with the engine or you're running a real radical cam. I expect (hope) the engine will make about 325 HP which is plenty.
Transaxle? Why a ZF of course! The other option CAV offers is the Getrag (Audi) but the ZF is historically correct AND the engine sits 2 inches lower with this tranny, putting the center of gravity lower
btw, the ride of my life so far was driving Sears Point in the rain in my AWD Eagle Talon (RIP). All the big HP RWD guys were spinning out and I blew them all away. That was on a Saturday. Sunday it dried out and they got their grip back and blew me away.
