Front Sway Bar Removal

I'm planning to put a slightly different bend in my front sway bar to get it into paralell with the lower A arm. It looks like there are black fiberglass covers that hinder removal. Has anyone removed their sway bar and did you have to remove anything to get them out? Before I start drilling out pop rivets I want to be sure there is not an easier way.

As always, thanks.

Hi Veek,

The black molded splash guards are either riveted or bolted in place. No biggy, but they do have to come off to remove the sway bar, fortunately the side panels of the rad cradle can remain.

What's your thinking on the sway bar? There are two different widths of bar supplied on the early CAV GTs. Also some were assembled with the wide bar on connecting above the lower control arm instead of below. The wide bar works fine in the correct position after the corner bend is tightened up to reduce the overall width.

This is not a common issue however I have seen it twice before and had another call on the tech line for the same thing. Let me know if this is what you're dealing with as it's easy enough to verify the dimensions.

Cheers

Thanks for the note Ian.

The ends of front bar needs to come back about 4 CM to parallel the A arm. So all I need is a little bend to get it in alignment with the mount. So I figure a little flattening of the final curve will just align it.

I'll drill out the rivets on the cover and hopefully it will come out easily.

Again thanks,
