Hi Folks,

I've been away for over a week so I'm sorry about not being able to respond to indivdual questions. Let me try to answer a few now though, for some of the repeat questions. If in doubt please check the FAQ before sending me an email.

1) If you are getting a message similar to this: "The host you are trying to send the input from is not a valid host." This is generally a firewall problem on your end of the business. There isn't anything I can do about it and it isn't always the same problem, but a few people have written here that it caused by firewall software.

2) Titles under your name - please check the FAQ (frequently asked questions) as it explains all. I do not decide on what you'll be called, it is all related to number of posts you've made.

3) Lost logins - I've had a huge number of requests for lost logins as of late. A few weeks ago I purged the users of people who had made no posts in the last 18 months. Now, a lot of these folks have been lurkers and are now needing the passwords. Please, you'll have to re-register, there is no other way.

Also, a lot of people have lost their passwords or they are not being recognized. A few people were lost in the transistion to the new board, you might have to re-register. If you DO NOT get email from me today with your new password that you've lost you'll have to re-register. Keep in mind I am on US Eastern Standard time so you might have to wait until tomorrow morning to get your answer.

Sorry for the problems, but I knew there would be some when we made the switch. Personally, it is worth it as I don't have an email a day asking "why can't I post pictures" /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif. Of course, that has turned into "I can't login" but I'm sure all of this will die down in a little while and we'll be back to our usual happy community.

Take care,
Ron

So far so good, Ron.

I would like you to consider increasing the allowable size of an attached picture from 50k to 100k, as the pics have to be pretty small to come in under 50k. If the pics are stored on the board then they won't disappear as people remove them from their web sites.

Yeah, but Ron, how many times have you gotten -

"What the hell is that a picture of ?!"

Looks like Babylon 5 or similar...

It has been done, 100k. But, if I find posts that have 15 100k pics pictures that really hurts our friends on dial up - and there are a lot in the UK! So, no loading up a single post with tons of pictures - break it up instead. You guys know who you are....

And for more info on who that is checkout Tool , a fantastic band but I don't suspect some of the older members will care for it...

Ron

Isn't there a band called Tool that had their logo shaped like the male genetalia? (Did I spell that right?) IS this the same band, or is there another?

Who'da thunk you were a metalhead?

Hi Ron,
congratiulations to the new board. It's great to be able to post now pictures directly and having them stay there.
I have, however a question relating to saving threads to hard disk:
On the previous board the threads were saved to harddisk automatically under the title of the thread. On this new board It always saves them under the name of the board.
Is it possible to have this feature from the old board?

Hi Guys,

I go away for a while (trying to get a restart at making a living so I can support this habit), and come back to a new board that doesn't know me at all! Hate to be a "stranger."

But, I guess I've been called worse.

At any rate, nice new addition ... and "Hi" everyone.
