These projects were made to use a Ford 427SOHC engine. I am a 92 year old AirForce B-52 pilot that retired in 1973. In 1967, I bought a new 1967 Shelby GT500 that had been built for road racing. I put a Ford 427SOHC engine in it and used it for NHRA drag racing. Ford designed this engine to beat the new Dodge 426 Hemi engine in Nascar racing. Ford told Nascar that the engine made 647 HP. Nascar would not approve the engine because Ford had not put the engine in a minimum of 50 cars that could be run on the street. About 500 of these engines were made and the Ford Drag Team used them for drag racing. I got one and put it into my Shelby. The engines made unbelievable horsepower.
In 2004 when Ford said they were going to make 2000 new street GT40's in 2005/2006, I decided I would like to build a GT40 replica and use a 427SOHC engine in it.
The GT40 and the LolaT703B (which had won the 1970 Daytona Race). Both have the same wheelbase and both are very LOW --GT40 (40 inches)-- Lola( 36 inches).
Bill Hough had fiberglass bodies which were made off of original cars. So I decided I would make both and they would be ONE OF A KIND.
In 2005, I opened a cattle ranch in hopes that it would pay for this expensive hobby. What I didn't know was that it would require so much time. The cars and engines always came last. I had no help with the builds, just me.
Last year, I fell down in my amphibius aircraft hanger and hit my forehead very hard on the concrete floor shattering the laptop computor I was carrying with all my car data and pictures which could not be recovered. After 2 expert's treatment, my equilibrium and peritheral vision will not improve so I am selling my projects.
I will post the details on each project in a week or so.

Wow!! So sorry to hear about your medical problems. I’d be interested in the Lola or the SOHC engine. I’ve been looking for one and/or parts for a while now.

Hi Earl. Glad to see you are working towards selling these projects. Bill
Hough actually made the Lola bodies from my car. He took a mold from my windshield and I believe you had more made. I might be interested in one of those. As I told you from the beginning, I would help with posting if needed. I also expressed my interest in the Lola. Please let me know if I can help.

Regards Brian

Brian, after you first contacted, I tried tried to direct contact you 5 or 6 times but never got a reply. Computers and I don't get along. On alert, I probably could not get the engines started on a B-52 now days. Things get harder when you get old.

Earl,
Very sorry to hear about your injury. I did not have any experience with a b52 but we are just finishing a BT13 WWII trainer restoration. I have been looking for a good gt40 project for quite a while. Please let me know when you’re ready to put it up for sale. I’m very interested.
Best regards
Keith

Old age is getting to me. I made a mistake when I posted the Lola --- It is a LolaT70Mk3B that won the 1969 Daytona race. I told you I was bad on the computor. Sorry everyone !!!!!
