GT 40 for sale.

I have decided to sell my car due to the fact that my age give me problems old people get. I have build the car from a stack of metal sheets and a set of drawings from 1966. I have made all parts for this car and put all together according the original drawings. The car is registered in Norway and road legal. There are some parts that I have used where I had to compromiss with the size of my wallet, but about 98% is as the original cars. There will also be a set of extra tires and a front window. The 3.2 gear/pinion are included + som other small parts for the webers.
The engine is a 1966 289 that is just a "little " modified . Gearbox is ZF with 4.5 reduction witch give the car a very nice speed rate for normal driving, Top speed I think is 270 km/h. I changes this form 3.2 witch was just not driveable with our speed limits in Norway

Sorry to hear your news Rune, I remember featuring your build when I was editor of Fortyfication, the GT40 Enthusiasts Club magazine.
My Frank Catt, of Wealden Engineering, highly developed GTD sold a month or so ago.
85 years old and a right shoulder problem made exiting an increasingly painful affair. Please to say it has gone to a very good home.

I am in the same boat, age catches up with us all eventually. I too have a right shoulder problem but I have a few events in June and July that I want to attend, I just hope I do not embarrass myself too much getting out of the car. Then, after an 11 year build and 27 years on the road my GTD will have to go. What do you replace a GT40 with ? A V8 Zimmer frame maybe ?

Hi Rune, Richard and Brian ......... as my doctor said to me, "The trouble is Steve you suffer from the medical condition known as, The Too Many Birthdays Syndrome". I too have some brain cells that wonder how many years I can keep driving my car ..... let alone getting in/out of it. Us senior guys seem to have a wealth of knowledge regarding the history of the GT40. Whereas I keep meeting folk who claim to know lots and talk utter crap. At a show last year a chap said to me .... "nice car, shame it's a fake". I asked him to explain and he replied, well it's right hand drive and it should be LHD as they were all built in America !!!
For your amusement ..... last year whilst touring Nevada, Utah and Arizona, I went to the Shelby Heritage Centre in Las Vegas. One of the items I purchased was a T-shirt that stated, "GT40 American Made". I told the lady on the check-out that I purchased it because it amused me how history was being changed. She just looked at me with a blank face.

Great write up Steve. I may not be the smartest man, but even I know where the GT40 was built. ( I think ).
