GT40 for sale in UK

After 13 years ownership I have reluctantly decided to sell my GT40 – a GTD.
The car is very sound, quick and drives beautifully.

I bought the car in 1994 from Central Garages(TVR) in Birmingham, as an almost complete car -but needing a rebuild. I wanted a JW Gulf Racing GT40, so after a ground-up rebuild, it now closely resembles a pure race car – there are no puffy extras, like carpets, a/c, radios etc!

The engine is a Ford V8 302cu in (4942cc) of 1972 vintage, fitted with, 4-choke Holley 600 and Edelbrock Performer inlet.
Transaxle is Renault 5-speed unit, rebuilt by Chris Cole of Mach 1 Transmissions.

The bodywork is from early GTD moulds (better than most !) and is finished in the JW Gulf Racing scheme, carrying authentic period decals. The car is being sold with two front nose nostrils, one being the classic twin vent type and the other being a deep single vent, as used at Le Mans..

The interior of the cockpit is aluminium panelled, fitted ‘brass-ringed’ GT40 leather seats and two Willans full-harness belts, a 6-point drivers and a 4-point passenger.
Also fitted is a fully plumbed-in Spa fire extinguisher system.

The car is fitted with twin very large Explososafe-filled fuel tanks for long distance work, and twin Facet pumps/twin Filterkings.
Also, full length stainless steel floor, large oil cooler, new high spec aluminium radiator, uprated springs, uprated AP clutch, lowered rear anti-roll bar, twin servos, front ventilated dics/solid rear.

Wheels are 15” Revolution split rims, fitted with Yokohama A539/Y352 tyres.

Comprehensive Piranha immobiliser and alarm systems.

Current odometer reading is 2211 miles.

To be sold with 12months MOT, plus all past documentation/manual etc.

The car has been for road and the occasional trackday use and has never been damaged.

The current registration mark is not included in the sale – but sale may be negotiable.

Asking £32000

Richard,

Sorry to hear you must part with your car.

As a compliment, your GT40 is very nice looking, and the side picture really showing the stance really looks great! Of all the cars listed for sale recently, the condition and construction of your car will certainly result in a quick sale.

Good luck with your sale, and good luck in your next endeavor!
