Massimo,
Buon giorno.
Big questions really.
Who built the car? What brakes are fitted? What engine and silencers? Pollution - can be tested in Italy no problems with Exhaust Emission analysis unless the Italian system has something else to test as well. Seat belts - What is fitted - standard diagonal passenger car or multi point harness?
Dove siete ha individuato in Italia?

Perhaps the documentation you require is all in the SVA manual.
This manual gives all the specifications required to register the car on the road in the UK. (This is higher than MOT and more stringent)

Vehicle testing manuals and guides

At the bottom of thepage it gives the price at £37.

That said a GT40 tends to fail on a few items due to it's height.
Headlights are too low so suspension needs to be increased to maximum for the test,
Indicators on the front are too low so need to have additional ones fitted higher (normally a small motor cycle type near the headlight
The rear clip (boot) has to be stopped from opening to full height or the tail lights and emergency hazard lights cannot be seen.
Reversing and rear Fog lighs need fitting above minimum height.
Lights must bear the required E marks

The emissions are based ont he age of the engine - and proof of engine age can normally eb obtained.

Brakes can have a bias bar fitted but at the test the bar must be locked in position with something like roll pins - front wheels must lock under braking before the reat. Brakes are tested for efficiency with and without boosters.

Seatbelt mounting points need to be in a triangulated area of the frame

Seatbelts must have the necessary E markings

Windscreen must have an E mark

Then there are numerous tests for sharp edges.

The manual is very detailed and about 140pages long.

Or if you have specific areas in question I'm sure a few pages could be faxed over!

hum...this sounds good and quite new for me.
According from what I knew only an unfinished and expensive GTD was resting somewhere in Milano, and so it's interesting to see how this new arrived here.

benvenuti a tutti, sono italiano anche io e son qua dentro da tanto tanto tempo.

Paolo:)

We have a downloadable version of the SVA manual on our links page, if it helps

I seem to recall some italian car owners getting vehicles sorted in neighbouring countries, then bringing them in, maybe get a "Control Technique" done in France, if its road legal for the UK.

Good Luck

Being italian and with the BIG enthusiast I have, also I would like to help as I can u all in this hard adventure.
To remain clear to all the friends here inside I will anyway try to keep my explanations in english (its ugly and I wellknow guys..sorry ..),and maybe can talk in italian only in PMs.

The re-immatricolation of a british vehicle in italy is done with the following document (enclosed).
Usually there are no major problems, cause manyfacturers belongs to a list our laws admit for public roads.
Unfortunately the GTD ltd. is not inside this list and so u have to move as for an unique vehicle for road use (italian plated KU on our " libretto di circolazione").
They formerly allow u to use that car as unique, and a commitment of technicians can ask u to produce documents about pollutions and smokes as well as brake system proofs and so on.
Often they can ask u to produce safety documentation for crash tests.
U can easy understand thats quite a mess, unless u are not a car dealer with some "special" (expensive) friendships inside that offices....and u all understand what I mean.

Nobody as private here can obtain a road plate for a self build vehicle.

Consider u can do this ONLY if the car had a previous road plate.
I have been working with race cars costructors..and many of theme have the idea to make the own dreamcar (many were also formula 1 costructors..so they surely have the knowledge to do that).
The only contry that still allows crazy people as all us here inside to get a road plate is UK and u only can go there to obtain that (SVA test and MOT).
With the british road plate u can convert that as italian, otherwise........simply u cannot at all.
All the cars u see in italian magazines (Ultimas...XTR2...Radicals, TVR..Few Cobras) have been imported here as second hand UK cars and THEN re named here as unique vehicles.
If u look carefully at the beauty-beastFerrari P4-5 of Jim J6 u can see him driving happy...with the american plate or the "Targa Prova" one from
Pininfarina factory(targa Prova has many many restictions..and can be gave only to garage owners..car dealers and so on..).

My personal tip is just to go to UK with car inside a truck and remain there to MOT the vehicle (many many agency helping u there directly).
Think seriously also to join one of the 2 wonderful Uk club (GTD and enthusiast club UK),cause there u will found incredible people with an infinite knowledge about the gt40

Hope all this help...
Paolo
