It's been about a year and a half since we were last regularly active on GT40s. We got our start with the HCF Autosport business back in 2016 serving this community and its Graziano L140 needs. It's been a busy couple years that's brought a lot of growth at HCF, so we're taking the opportunity to do a re-introduction!

We are a 5 person team that's headquartered in Austin, Texas and supports a couple different products and end users via HCF Autosport (drivetrain), HCF Brake Systems (brakes) and HCF Services (hypercar manufacturer support) businesses.

Our Managing Director is Price Cobb who's enjoyed a storied career as a professional race car driver - https://database.motorsportmagazine.com/database/drivers/price-cobb
In addition you have myself (John), a professional motorsports data engineer (Alex), a professional gearbox technician (Ron) and dedicated logistics support (Jeremy).

HCF Autosport (www.hcfautosport.com) was our first endeavor and involves drivetrain modification. We've expanded this area to include factory distributorships for Graziano and CIMA and high performance parts manufacturing for a range of specialty gearboxes. In addition to factory-new OE replacements, we offer custom gears, gearbox controllers, gearbox components, R&P's, differentials, clutches and custom axles are supplied by this business. We operate a turnkey modification service for several high performance OE platform tuners that outsources all aspects of gearbox modification to HCF. We've recently signed agreements with several leaders in certain models to carry our products - so if you also own a Ferrari, Aston Martin, McLaren, Porsche or Lamborghini it is likely you will see HCF drivetrain products featured in the near future.

HCF Brake Systems (www.hcfbrakesystems.com) was created in 2020 to deliver Surface Transforms' carbon ceramic rotors to the North American, South American and Asian markets and to support custom caliper needs of the hypercar market. These rotors have been supplied as OE fitment on every Koenigsegg model for roughly the past 10 years, the upcoming Aston Martin Valkyrie hypercar, 55 of the 85 McLaren Senna's and many of the small production hypercar manufacturers.

HCF Services is our small manufacturer / hypercar support business. Similar in nature to the Autosport business' Turnkey Program, just expanded to service the unique needs of this segment.

We are launching coverage of a couple new items in the Autosport business that will directly relate to owners of vehicles in the GT40s space. Stay tuned!
Best,
John

John, I have certainly been following your products. I enjoy reading your informational posts also. Hopefully you will offer more products for the Ricardo transaxle in the future. I'm anticipating ordering a clutch assembly from you as my project goes along. Thanks for all you and your team do to continually improve current and introduce new products.

Regards Brian

Many thanks, Brian! Regarding support for the Ricardo - indeed, we do!

We actually just finished a run of custom ratio R&P's (still 8 left from the run) and will have replacement 3rd gears done sometime in February.
This gearbox never had any factory parts for it from Ford, and owners have been cannibalizing used gearboxes for the last 15 years or so. At some point this needed to stop, as used replacement parts got to be more expensive than we could make them for new out of better materials.

We've had synchronizer assemblies and most of the bearings sorted now for a few years. Ron has developed a process to rebuild the oil pumps that we've done on the last several gearboxes. Nearly all of them had bad pumps.

Our intention is to roll out the other commonly-needed items to keep these serviceable... and from owners needing to keep a spare gearbox under their pillow "just in case"!
Best,
John

Sounds great John. I actually have a rather large stash of parts from used transaxles. I purchased these from Northwood GT Ford Parts. And they in turn had purchased them from Fran at Race Car Replicas. As most of these cars were very low mileage cars when destroyed these parts are in excellent condition. I purchased a new transaxle from a fellow forum member here. I then sent it to RPM transmissions to have it inspected. They checked the alignment of the lazer welds on the gears. As from what I understand this caused a lot of the gear to hub breakage. They cyro'd the gears and micro polished them, and hand fit the sliders. Hopefully when I'm finally able to get this project going I'll be set. What is the custom gear ratio, and the price please ? If I remember correctly Stillen offered a run of ten 3.90 gears. Those sold out pretty fast.
Looking forward to the new parts.

Regards Brian

Hi Brian,

That's right - there was a faulty process at the factory with their EB welding equipment/process that caused issues with the 3rd gear synchro clutch during a period of the production run. EB is typically a system used in higher volume plants, which has historically been an extra hurdle to smaller production facilities. We have to use it on our Huracan gearkits for one gear where the splined parts don't allow enough room to properly stake - it's the only process we have to send outside for and it's a major pain.

Regarding the Ricardo R&P's - the customer who sponsored the run wanted a 3.9 ratio, same ratio as the Stillen offering many years back. Some photos of the pinion's during the various steps of production. Alloy and processing on these were the highest quality you'll see in motorsports, nearing aerospace quality. Pricing lives on forums forever, and costs over time vary on the cost of materials and size of the run. Mind if we discuss by email?

Best,
John
