HOW THE WHEEL TURNS... (Senator Barack Obama, 2006)

The fact that we are here today to debate raising America's debt limit is a sign of leadership failure. It is a sign that the U.S. government cannot pay its own bills. It is a sign that we now depend on ongoing financial assistance from foreign countries to finance our government's reckless fiscal policies. Increasing America's debt weakens us domestically and internationally. Leadership means that "the buck stops here." Instead, Washington is shifting the burden of bad choices today onto the backs of our children and grandchildren. America has a debt problem and a failure of leadership. Americans deserve better

I'm not really sure that's the case anymore, Pete, given the old adage that we get the govt we deserve. The electorate has now put that man in office twice...and 'twas done despite knowing what a train wreck he, Reid and Pelosi had created in his first term. (Even Reid and Pelosi were re-elected.)

Never has this country put a more unqualified person in the White House...and that's saying something given the fact that Jimmy Carter once occupied the place. Back then I could not have imagined that one day the Carter years would look like Camelot (not a reference to JFK).

'Crushingly sad all the way around...and Obama still has over three years left in office.

But, regarding the above quote, it's only one of a darn near unlimited supply of - to be kind - 'flip-flops' this man has made. He has proven to be quite literally 'unbelievable'.

Well said Larry. Unfortunately there are to many people in the US who are mainly concerned about tonights tele offerings and how full the beer fridge might be!
