Interior Door handles??

Can anyone possibly point me in the direction of some examples of how the interior door handles(miata ones) are mounted to the actual doors when using the full carbon door panels. I have looked at this from a few different angles and cant help get past the idea that the actual handle needs to be mounted to the door itself in order to be able to hook up the cable properly and then the carbon panel goes on top and then the trim ring. Like a normal car would. Any insight on this would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Thats perfect, that's the exact direction I was going last night.

I used Dan Carters method as well. It was extremely time consuming to get the alignment to match the door card. See my post starting at around #906 on page 46 of my build thread.
