Nice to see another KVA. I think JP Verwij (on this forum) is also busy restoring a KVA, not sure about his specs though. hope to see some progress pics here too?

Hi,
on my KVA mk3 I will use a 1968 302 block with Audi 01 gvd 6speed gearbox which has a 3.750 diff ratio which gives me with 27 inch tires 2450rpm/80 mph
in this configuration I do not use 1er gear (to short ratio) for normal driving , take of in gear 2 (give me à fake dogleg 1gear....)

the older Audi A6 with the tai 180 cv engine had the dtq gearbox with the 3.44 diff ratio

You can shop also in the Seat catalog for the jws gearbox if you like super long ratio for max top speed
hope it clears up your questions?
Paul

Hi James
I am also about to start a KVA restoration, it was registered in 1989. Mines a bit of a mess! Not that it can't be repaired with some time and money. I have a 302 and a couple of UN1 gearboxes and a BMW V8 which will go on EBay. The 302 looks almost new. Will probably put a top end kit on it. I am South Warwickshire

Thanks for the input my concern was regarding torque figures and 1st gear. Where could I source the cable adaptor from ... is there a standard kit?
Thanks James

Hi Chris

How are you getting on with your restoration?

I'm not too far from you, can always pop to yours and have a chat about your car?

That‘s the gearbox I also used. Be careful with the connection of the shaft to the engine. I messed it all up, and it took a while to get it fixed

Not actually started yet!!! Just put a new set of heads on my old FE 427 in the Cobra and am about to renew the shockers on that too. Then, hopefully, I can make a proper start on the 40. By all means come and have a look. It would be good to compare notes/ideas

Just wanted to check that the tfsi Audi box can take 330hp and torque ? Also found a 07 2.7 tdi box fwd which would be better but unsure of dimensions
