Lotus 78

I recently went to the Beauliau Motor Museum .Here are some pics I took of The Lotus 78. The first Formula 1 grounds effects car. It doesnt have the full ground effect tunnels, they were to come later, but you can see the rubber side skirts.

This link will give more information about the car Lotus 78 - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

One of the things I found really intresting was the rear uprights , and how they are connected to the car. They appear to be made from 16 swg steel, The cars has inboard dual callipers each side, and the upper wishbones (not quite the correct word for them ) are mounted directly on to the brake callipers, as do the upper suspension mounts.........

These were designed by Martin Oglvive, the vehicle engineer, and followed the clasic Colin Chapman design, of useing one component to do many things

I hope you enjoy the pics...I also took some pics of the Lotus 49. ill post them here if anyone is intrested
