Just in case you're tired of your little black knob on your center-shift SPF, you can get a reasonable looking plain wooden one that fits for $30 here:

Scroll down to item number MM018-RO "Dark red wooden Shift Knob for 1990-2008 Miatas" third from the bottom
(Miatas use the same thread; if you're feeling flush you can get a mahogany one by Nardi for $180)
Be forewarned: the aluminum insert in the knob is tapped to the correct thread M10-1.25, but it's very tight so best to run a M10-1.25 tap down it first. They supply you with loctite but on the SPF GT40 you can just run it down until it jams at the end of the threads.
I believe the thread on the SPF sill shifter is different. M8 according to this post: http://www.gt40s.com/forum/superformance-gt40s/29940-thread-size.html#post278072
Installed it looks like this, with the original sitting on the console below it:

Of course in your period-correct Mk II it should look like this:
