If it's Jazz in London that's important to you:

At 66 yrs of age, Martin Drew, the resident house drummer at Ronnie Scotts club in Frith Steet passed away on 29th August. He was famous as a part of the Oscar Peterson trio in the 1980s.
Just a small part of the obituary in the Telegraph.

But for generations of British jazz fans, Drew was just as famous for his appearances in the cramped, dark, smoky Soho den, as for those on the concert hall stage with Peterson. Eyes fully-closed, mouth half-open in a smile that was part grimace, part ecstasy, his giant arms launched out unerringly towards steeply-raked cymbals. For visiting artists, as for club regulars, he was a fixture whose technique and dedication helped the star names shine.
